2021 ICTM Indiana State Mathematics Contest

With much regret the 2021 ICTM State Math Contest scheduled for April 17, 2021 is cancelled.
As the Covid-19 vaccine is more widely administered in the coming months,
please look for the contest to run again in April 2022.

The Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) is pleased to inform you that the 2021 ICTM Indiana State Mathematics Contest will be held at 9:30 AM (local time) on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the host sites listed below (scroll to the bottom). For more host site information, please contact a local site coordinator. We hope you will encourage your students to participate in the 2021 contest. Local host sites will recognize local top performers (1st, 2nd, 3rd places and top 25%). After all scores in the state are processed, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and top 5% state performers in each exam category will be recognized at the ICTM Outstanding Scholars Award Ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse on Friday, June 4, 1PM (tentatively scheduled).
The cost for registration is $7 (checks made payable to ICTM). See below for test category information, a link to past exams, participant information, registration information with link, calculator policy and host site information.

Registration will be open from Monday, March 1, 2021 through Thursday, March 31, 2021. Online registration closes approximately two weeks before the contest day. Please contact your site coordinator for late registrations.
There are five mathematics problem-solving tests. Each contains 28 to 40 multiple-choice questions; 90 minutes are allowed for students to work with the test.
The test categories are:
* Pre-Algebra
* Algebra First Course/Integrated Math I
* Geometry/Integrated Math II
* Algebra Second Course/Integrated Math III
* Comprehensive
Questions for the first four categories may be related to the content identified in Indiana's academic standards or included in state-approved textbooks. The content of the Comprehensive category is drawn from pre-calculus mathematics including trigonometry, finite mathematics, simple linear algebra, probability, statistics, and analytic geometry. A non-programmable calculator is permitted. Please see below for a partial list of acceptable calculators.

Registration Information:
There is a non-refundable $7.00 participant fee for each student (checks to be made payable to ICTM). Participants must be registered by their current math teacher or school principal (even if the school is not participating in the contest), and the school must certify that the participants are currently enrolled in courses appropriate for the category.
Your registration is not complete until all fees have been received by the appropriate local site. Registration will be open from Monday, March 21, 2021 through Thursday, March 31, 2021.
Reminder: Teachers/principals must register students. Parents/students may not register students.

2019 State Math Contest Awards Ceremony
On June 28, 2019, Indiana students were recognized for their performance after competing in the Indiana State Math Contest during the ICTM Outstanding Scholars Awards Ceremony. State plaques were awarded to the top 3 finishers (or more in the event of a tie) and medals were awarded to students who finished in the top 5%. State plaques and medals for students not in attendance will be mailed to the attention of the registering teacher at the school address provided during registration. Below is a summary:
Pre-Algebra
* 7 students tied for 1st place earning a 38/40
* 7 additional students were awarded medals with a minimum score of 37/40
Algebra I
* 1 student earned 1st place with a PERFECT SCORE of 40/40.
* 1 student earned 2nd place with a 38/40.
* 1 student earned 3rd place with a 36/40
* 7 additional students were awarded medals with a minimum score of 33/40
Geometry
* 2 students tied for 1st place with a PERFECT SCORE of 32/32
* 3 students tied for 2nd place with a 31/32
* 4 additional students were awarded medals with a minimum score of 30/32
Algebra II
* 2 students tied for 1st place with a 31/32
* 1 student earned 2nd place with a 29/32
* 2 additional students were awarded medals with a minimum score of 25/32
Comprehensive
* 1 student earned 1st place with a PERFECT SCORE of 32/32
* 2 students earned 2nd place with a 30/32
* 2 additional students were awarded medals with a minimum score of 29/32
Please mark your calendar for Saturday, April 18th, 2020 for the 2020 ICTM State Math Contest next year! The 2020 ICTM Outstanding Scholars Awards Ceremony is tentatively set for June 5, 2020 at the Indiana State House in Indianapolis. The website will be updated in the coming months.
